Equipment Inspections
The Australian Fire Code requires fire equipment located in commercial, industrial and some residential occupancies to be inspected at regular intervals. “INSPECTION” is a “Quick Check” to ensure that a fire equipment is readily available and fully operational. This is done by visually verifying the placement of the equipment is properly positioned in its designated space. The value of inspections lies directly in conjunction with the frequency, regularity and thoroughness at the time it was conducted.

Equipment Maintenance
Extinguishers must be maintained at regular intervals of no more than one year apart or when specifically indicated by an inspection. “Maintenance” is a thorough check of the extinguisher. It includes a thorough examination and any necessary repair, recharging, hydrostatic testing, or replacement.
